Smooth and quiet
I was looking for a die grinder that would be good for continuous use, since the air driven ones require more air than my compressor can deliver for full time operation. This one is smooth and quiet and has enough power to run 5" buffs and large carbide burrs. If its like the other Makita tools I have it should last a long time. Well worth the price.
I've owned one of these for close to 25 years!
OMG! I can't believe Makita still makes this grinder!!I bought one of these over 25 years ago when i was an apprentice die maker and i STILL use it to this day! And believe me i have abused the s*** out of it too. Using 2" cutoff wheels for cutting off rusting bolts to cutting metals rods off. This thing is a monster! It's a little heavy compared to my dremel, but my dremel can't take the abuse my Makita can either.I would not hesitate to replace my old friend with a new one - if that day ever comes ;)
A Great Tool at a Great Price
I do occasional grinding on heavy steel components, and therefore could not justify spending as much as some of these types of tools can cost. Also, I'm a price-shopper. Amazon handled the order Great. The tool arrived on time in perfect condition. It's a tad light on power for heavy grinding, but I did not find that a problem, as the tool works so well. I needed a variable speed controller for the grinder, and purchased an inexpensive Router Speed Controller from Harbor Freight, and that did the job. Its a great tool at a great price.
