Awesome tool! You will be happy if you buy it.

So I just received my Delta 12" disc sander and I have to say this thing is a beast! The table is MASSIVE compared to other models I saw at Sears and Lowes. The motor is whisper quiet. You might think 1/2 hp is not alot but when this 12" disc spins up you have plenty of sandpaper moving across your piece at 2750 RPM.

I was able to find this for just over 200 with shipping so the price was very good. The size is good if you have limited room. I have a basement shop so I plan to install on a table soon.

The table is not difficult to set to 90. Used my square and loosened both tighteners (one per side), adjusted dead square and tightened it down. It is not moving. The adjusters feel like metal not plastic.

I have nothing to measure run-out to the 10/1000 or more but with the disc spun close to my square it shows no deflection or wobble.

The guide from my table saw fits the solid table slot perfectly to keep stock square to the disc.

Have not connected the dust hose yet but it is a nice accessory. I think I will plumb behind my bench to the compound miter, band saw and the disc sander and connect this to my shop vac. Will need hoses to fit the others. The disc sander is set to go.

In summary I am very happy. It's 2009 and maybe all the kinks I read about have been addressed. I would NOT call this tool cheap or poor quality. It is not a commercial multi-phase tool meant for 8 hrs of use per day but it fits with this hobby craftsman's shop very well. I buy as high quality as I can justify and this unit will be a highlight in my shop.

Still working very well!

I purchased this sander two years ago and I am still happy with its performance. It sands very well, is quiet, and the disk brake is handy. The dust collection works O.K.(vs superbly), but that may be a function of my vacuum hookup vs a dust collector.
