A sanding / grinding animal....

The Jet 708599 belt sander is a well built machine that any shop would be proud to own. It is a big unit and heavy so call up the boys to help get it out of the box. I use mine for mostly metal working although the manual says it isn't intended to be used for metal. I wired mine for 240 volt, easy to do and the manual is good at showing how it's done. Plenty of power and smooth. I built my own stand from 4x4s and 3/4" plywood as the metal one looked a bit flimsy for me. The tables are machined cast, heavy duty along with everything else for sure. If you're looking for a belt sander this IS the unit you seek...

Best addition to my shop!

This is my first bench top sander and I was really undecided as to whether to go with this one or step up to a floor/base model. My shop is somewhat limited in space which was the deciding factor for me. However I'm more than satisfied with this sander. Makes finishing so much easier and quicker. Once I got the hang of it, it reduced my finishing time in half, if not more. The tilt table is a great feature as well. I make custom made wine racks and the 1 1/2 inch spindle is perfect for finishing the cutout for the bottle neck. I used to shop at several woodworking websites but with the service and selection on Amazon I'm convinced it's the best place on the web for woodworking equipment and supplies.

Spindle Sander

Purchased a Jet 5.5 inch 1/2 HP benchtop oscillating spindle sander with additional spindle assortment from Amazon.com and item arrived in excellent time and in great condition. Unpacked and installed the supplied spindle and went to work. The table top is cast and large enough to handle most sanding jobs. The motor is wisper quiet and powerful enough to do the things that I will be doing. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend to a friend.

Nice tool

I bought this a few months ago. I had been using my drill press for way too long. This is well made and does a very good job. I would have given it 5 stars but the dust collection isn't all that impressive. It probably picks up a little more than half the dust. I was expecting the suction to pull away anything around the sanding spindle but that didn't happen.

The spindle oscillates straight up and down. The table is easily adjustable for different angles. Spindle changing is relatively easy but you might skin a knuckle or two. Longer handled wrenches would have been nice. Because of its weight, I built a mobile cabinet and mounted it permanently to it. It has a drawer to keep the wrenches and sanding sleeves. Buy some fine grade sleeves as the 120 grit leaves pretty large grooves. It's more like an 80 grit finish.

Well Built, Durable, Highly Functional

I bought one of these sanders in 2004 or 2005 through a dealer in Syracuse, New York when they first came out and have found over the years that this machine is better than I expected. It has been trouble free the day I bought it. It is well constructed, accurate and the fit and finish is very good. Adjustments are easily accessable. Its greatest asset is the large tables. They are easy to adjust and their size makes them easier to design and attach jigs and fixtures to. The machine is very heavy and stable in operation, no vibration. I have had no problems with belt tracking or tension. I find a slight disadvantage in the verticle height of the belt platen, but you can't have everything. The dust pickup is not very good at the disc side of the machine, but I have never seen one that was since the old Powermatic sanders from the 1980's. If I were to buy belt/disc sander today, it would probably be this make and model.

Delta 31-300 Belt/Disc Sander

A solid, well built machine that should last the home user a lifetime. Sander is as described with plenty of power and my only cause for dissatisfaction is that the size and mounting of the belt table greatly limits the working area of the belt. Easy to setup with good instructions but will require two people. I had delivery and scheduling problems with the freight company and Amazon was of no use resolving them.

Fantastic workhorse of a machine!

After agonizing over brand, features, reputation, and price for a few months, I decided to take the plunge and get the Delta. It was the highest priced sander I'd considered but also the best reviewed. Its weight (around 300 lbs.) indicated Delta's propensity for over-building - but I kind of like that. I tend to do the same for most of my furniture projects and have been very gratified with their longevity. This sander goes together well, although the instructions were a bit out of date with the actual details. However, this was nothing very challenging - it just took an extra minute or two of observation and thought to see what had changed and how to put it together.

The two tables are great - very stable and solid. My only wish is that it be easier to remove the table on the belt portion of the sander. It sometimes is in the way on some projects and is cumbersome and heavy to manipulate, both when taking it off and putting it back on. However, a little practice improves this issue.

The only other area of mild concern is actually not specific to this machine but is common to all belt sanders. That issue is the drifting of the belt at different temperatures, tensions, and loads. It tends to start up drifting one way. Then, if the sanding session is long, it will change as the belt heats / loosens up. Then, to confuse the issue more, it will shift while you're sanding based on the amount of load you subject it to (how hard you push your work-piece into it). It eventually evens out but forces you to go through it again, the next time you start it up.

Finally, to repeat myself, it's a great machine and I'm very happy that I paid the extra needed to acquire it. Note: Delta recommends at least two people put it together - I second that. It's really quite awkward and heavy and cast iron only need one little drop onto concrete to start a crack or shatter. Use the buddy system!

Great sander

This is a great idea for anyone with limited space or not.
I rate the tool as sold. Yes it should have a case and yes it should come with all the different drums. Get over it because they are not included.
The tool is very easy to use and the vacuum attachment works great.
One thing I would like to see porter cable make the router table plates for other router table tops.

Update: Benchdog did carry a router table plate so I could mount the sander in my router table. I also found it is much easier and cheaper to buy the 9" sanding tubes and cut them in half.

I prefer this to a benchtop or cabinet spindle sander

If you want to use it like a benchtop spindle sander for small pieces, turn it upside down and clamp it to a couple of sawhorses.

This was my first time using this sander and I must say I was very happy with its performance. The sander was easy to control and had pleanty of power. If you have edge sanding to do, and you can't bring the project to the sander because of it's size, this sander is the ticket. I couldn't have finished my project with out it.

Awesome tool! You will be happy if you buy it.

So I just received my Delta 12" disc sander and I have to say this thing is a beast! The table is MASSIVE compared to other models I saw at Sears and Lowes. The motor is whisper quiet. You might think 1/2 hp is not alot but when this 12" disc spins up you have plenty of sandpaper moving across your piece at 2750 RPM.

I was able to find this for just over 200 with shipping so the price was very good. The size is good if you have limited room. I have a basement shop so I plan to install on a table soon.

The table is not difficult to set to 90. Used my square and loosened both tighteners (one per side), adjusted dead square and tightened it down. It is not moving. The adjusters feel like metal not plastic.

I have nothing to measure run-out to the 10/1000 or more but with the disc spun close to my square it shows no deflection or wobble.

The guide from my table saw fits the solid table slot perfectly to keep stock square to the disc.

Have not connected the dust hose yet but it is a nice accessory. I think I will plumb behind my bench to the compound miter, band saw and the disc sander and connect this to my shop vac. Will need hoses to fit the others. The disc sander is set to go.

In summary I am very happy. It's 2009 and maybe all the kinks I read about have been addressed. I would NOT call this tool cheap or poor quality. It is not a commercial multi-phase tool meant for 8 hrs of use per day but it fits with this hobby craftsman's shop very well. I buy as high quality as I can justify and this unit will be a highlight in my shop.

Still working very well!

I purchased this sander two years ago and I am still happy with its performance. It sands very well, is quiet, and the disk brake is handy. The dust collection works O.K.(vs superbly), but that may be a function of my vacuum hookup vs a dust collector.

Delta 31-120 12-inch Benchtop Disc Sander

Excellent tool, superfast shipping. This tool came setup runs true, smooth and powerful. I especially like the dust collection system.

Worth the price

I've never used the Tormek 2006 so I can't really compare this new model with it other than to say that the color's changed. But since no one else has reviewed this item, here goes:

I'd pretty much go ahead and agree with anyone who says Tormek is an outstanding value and is worth the high price. This is a very well-made machine and Tormek stands behind their products and jigs. I've invested too much in my tools to not take proper care of them; my Tormek is used to sharpen an arsenal of tools that have a combined worth of more than twice the cost of the machine and all its accessories.

For what it's worth:

This package did not come with the TTS-100 Turning Tool Setter. I had to buy that separately. You will want it if you're going to be sharping your gouges or skew chisels.

Don't let the included DVD be a major selling point; the Tormek website has videos of all the jigs in use and there's nothing different on the DVD. The website is easier to navigate than the DVD menu, but YMMV.

The accessories came each in their own little individual boxes for a total of 9 small, yellow, cardboard boxes. Apparently the two Tormek "accessory packages" (Woodturner's Kit and Hand Tool Kit--which together contain all of the jigs and accessories) come in large polystyrene trays that can be used as drawer liners for organizing the accessories. These would have been nice to have, but I suppose I can live with little cardboard boxes. Maybe in the future they'll ship this ultimate package with the 2 storage tray boxes rather than dispensing all of the jigs à la carte.

A true complete kit

I received this package as a Christmas gift. It is an incredible package. If you are interested you can view a dozen or so videos about it on youtube. I watched them over and over prior to wanting it. It is an investment for sure with a price tag over a grand. I feel it is truly worth it. The video is very comprehensive and you can probably borrow one from your local Woodcraft. (I did that also.) This kit comes with a nice box for each jig to be stored in. I made a cabinet with drawers for each box to rest in. One for turning tools, one for chisels, etc. I also mounted the machine on a lazy susan so that I don't have to pick up the machine to turn it around as some operations are done in reverse. I just mounted it and made some dowel stops to secure it in the forward or reverse position. Words can only do so much. I really suggest the videos. The machine itself is very well built and everything works together flawlessly.

Smooth and quiet

I was looking for a die grinder that would be good for continuous use, since the air driven ones require more air than my compressor can deliver for full time operation. This one is smooth and quiet and has enough power to run 5" buffs and large carbide burrs. If its like the other Makita tools I have it should last a long time. Well worth the price.

I've owned one of these for close to 25 years!

OMG! I can't believe Makita still makes this grinder!!
I bought one of these over 25 years ago when i was an apprentice die maker and i STILL use it to this day! And believe me i have abused the s*** out of it too. Using 2" cutoff wheels for cutting off rusting bolts to cutting metals rods off. This thing is a monster!
It's a little heavy compared to my dremel, but my dremel can't take the abuse my Makita can either.
I would not hesitate to replace my old friend with a new one - if that day ever comes ;)

A Great Tool at a Great Price

I do occasional grinding on heavy steel components, and therefore could not justify spending as much as some of these types of tools can cost. Also, I'm a price-shopper. Amazon handled the order Great. The tool arrived on time in perfect condition. It's a tad light on power for heavy grinding, but I did not find that a problem, as the tool works so well. I needed a variable speed controller for the grinder, and purchased an inexpensive Router Speed Controller from Harbor Freight, and that did the job. Its a great tool at a great price.

Top Quality & a Pleasure To Use

I burned up a 6" Milwaukee that was quite new, so bought one of these. I used this machine on the same job and the motor barely got warm, whereas the Milwaukee was getting too hot to hold without gloves, then smoked and fried. It seems to run smoother as well. A real workhorse for heavy users. If you want to use a grinder heavily without burning it out, this is worth the extra money!

Quality

This tool is exceptionally well made with plenty of power and nice features such as the soft start and multiple locations for additional had support. The blade guard is easily adjustable and the quick disk change is another nice feature. We use these grinders at work and they are work horses for their size. They also have an over heat protection that shuts down the motor till it cools but it takes a great deal of work to cause this. Great product.

Ultimate sharpener

This is the ultimate sharpener. It is not for the kitchen, but an excellent addition to the workshop. I have tried a zillion sharpening stones and devices, and this one hands-down kills them all. It probably also costs more than all of them combined. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend it for a working professional (for example, a woodworker) who needs sharp hand tools. It is also a good toy for anyone who loves tools and sharp knives. It does take a bit of skill (more than a Chef's Choice, for example) to use it properly, but that shouldn't be a problem for anyone who is familiar with hand tools and power tools, and the result is a million times better than anything else out there. There are many jigs for different types of tools and they generally make it very easy to create perfect edges on all kinds of different tools. Lastly, the japanese water stone makes it easy to get absolutely razor sharp edges. Bottom line: if you need to sharpen lots of knives and tools, this is the sharpener to get.

must have

I have used sharpening stones for over 20 years, this is a definite upgrade, though I will still be using the hand stones. This system makes is very easy to produce the exact angle on the tool, and the sharpening book is a must read.

Tormek T7 w/woodturners kit

Works great. as advertised...
I read and watched all the instructional material provided with the product before I started actually using the T7. I sharpened every turning tool I own to use and test all the jigs. The tools were sharp enough to shave my arm with the first time!!!

The product is very pricey, but IT WORKS!!!!

Everything I wanted

Perfect set. This has all the accessories that I wanted at a slight discount over buying everything separately. Yeah it's outrageously expensive but I didn't want to settle for something that was "almost as good except for..." I just wanted something that would work from the start and not mess around tweaking something that was has some quality issues. It's easy to set up and the jigs work perfectly. It's easy to get the exact edge you want and very fast. I sharpened my kitchen knives and they are impressively sharp. I was able to quickly restore edges on a couple of turning tools that I messed up with the regular grinder. It's slower than a regular grinder but I find I have more control and spend less time regrinding to get the perfect edge.

GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! OVER $900!!!!

I'm not one to bad mouth quality but this thing isn't made of GOLD. Tormex makes a wonderful product. It probably comes defect free, and all their accessories are top-notch; but they also fit the Jet Sharpener ($299 on Amazon). The Jet accessories are of poor quality. The Jet sharpener has a few problems -- the support arm is weaker than the Tormex and is not square. There appear to be some quality control problems with a few Jet sharpeners but Jet and Amazon have great return policies and make defects right! Buy the Jet and use the savings to buy all the Tormex accessories you'll need. READ the positive reviews for the Jet and you will find the few problems are easily fixed and save six hundred bucks -- something most of us can use these days!

Jet Benchtop Dis and Belt Sander

Several years ago I purchased a Ryobi BD4600 Disc/Belt Sander using it for small hobby and art projects without any problems but as time went on people started seeing my work which turned into a customer base and requests grew to bigger projects. The Ryobi is a fine sander and like one of the reviews I read "it's about time, I stopped buying cheaper sanders every time, spent some money and bought a great sander" The Ryobi just didn't have the horse power to do some of the projects I was building. For several weeks I read, interviewed other artist and watched demo's on various sanders and I came to the conclusion the Jet 708595 would do the job.

Now since I have used and put the sander through several tasks, I'm very pleased in the say it performs, and sands. The sander is heavy duty which I like and balanced and easy to use.

I would recommend this sander to any one whether your doing around the house or professional jobs.

Overall a nice machine, room for improvement

Overall, this is a nice machine. This sander has a nice steel guard that covers the forward edge of the belt, it is attached by four screws, and is easy to remove for radius sanding. The packaging of this sander is mediocre, the first sander I receive had a hole ion the box and the disc was severely bent. Amazon issued a pick up to ups and sent me another entire unit. The second unit's box looked okay, but again the sanding disc was warped, and easy 3/16 inch in places, less than the first bent disc, but still not usable. Rather than deal with Amazon, I called Jet, and they promptly sent me a replacement disc. If you can find a local supplier, you would be better off avoiding the shipping.

This sander is a good improvement over the Delta 6x48 sander I had that burned out. It comes with a heavy iron table for the disc sander, this table is mounted using a post. Although it is nice to have an iron table, it is a bit heavy for the post mounting, and is not difficult to see it deflect downward when additional weight is applied. Jet might do better to go to an aluminum table, or redesign the post mounting so it is more rigid. The rest of the machine seems really solid, and has no lack of power. The belts track well, and the machine runs smoothly.

Belt sander meets all of my needs

I'm a hobbyist who has done a few commercial projects and am quite happy with this sander. Its very heavy-duty not only in its power but also the construction of its base. The machine has more than enough power and with the 80-grit belt it came with, I was asking myself why I hadn't purchased it before this time. I zipped through some corner and end pieces with very little elbow grease needed. (I decided to spend more money for the Jet as opposed to saving money on a Delta based on reviews I've read and again am quite happy with my decision.)

My only slight knock against the machine is that the on/off power button is located on the opposite side of the machine from the belt sander in its horizontal position which makes it cumbersome to turn off.

Great wet sharpener

First off I didn't purchase this from Amazon , but I did check out the reviews here , I was leaning towards the Tormek which a buddy of mine has , great machine but the price will stop your heart , I need a wet sharpener mostly for hand planes , chisels , knives , carving tools , and the Tormek T-7 with the both knife jigs , straight jig , stone grader , stone truing jig and cover would have run me over 7 Franklins , I got the jet with the straight jig , large and small knife jigs , stone truing jig , grading stone , base unit with 2 storage drawers ,and cover for over $200.00 less than the Tormek T-7 , all brand new , with the Jet 5 year warranty. For me that's a big difference , now what about set up and operation , true the Tormek has a nice written user manual , that I will probably buy since both the Jet and Tormek are almost identical , the dvd with the Jet was more than enough for me to get up and running. The wet stone that came with the Jet was squared at the factory , and when I checked it to the support arm it was perfect , the support arm on mine was fine , I see in some other reviews they said it was off a degree or two but mine was fine . Also some said the plastic bushings on the straight edge jig will sometimes fall out , mine have not after a few uses , if they do I'll just glue them in , not a big issue , the existing angle gauge is simple to use , the angle gauge to set the jig to the stone is also easy to use. The stone sucked up close to 1 qt. of water at the first run , then nI got out a few knives and tried out the big and small knife jigs , great results . I have the torque setting on mine backed all the way out and it takes more force than I care to put on the stone to stop it. Next I got the straight edge jig out and sharpened a few chisels and planes up , I had the grind stone graded fine , my chisels and plane blades are in pretty good shape so I didn't need any real aggressive regrinding of angles. Once I got them all ground good with a burr on back I then oiled up the leather stropping wheel with some mineral oil , then put some of the included metal polish on it and stropped away , then a quick touch on a fine flat stone on the back of the plane blades and chisels and I can shave with them . Beautiful job this Jet sharpener does, I will probably use it 4-6 times a year but its worth it , I can sharpen all my tools and all my wife's knives in a matter of an hour or two where it use to take me a day or two of tedious work. I also noticed some reviewers saying the support arm was a bit flexible meaning flimsy , I did not notice that at all , in fact I thought it was heavier than I expected and didn't notice any flex at all , I did not need to use a lot of pressure in any of the sharpening or stropping operations. The shaft nut and washer that some reviewers say corroads with use , I am going to grab the stainless steel equivalent at the hardware store so thats not a worry. Overall I am very happy with the Jet jssg-10 and the jigs , it should last me pretty much forever , the price while not a cheap tool is pretty reasonable for the quality , and usefulness with the jigs that are available , compared to the Tormek the price is a steal.

new sharpener

Brian Dorr says:
I just received my Jet on 04-27-10. I pulled it right out of the and found the note that said "make sure to remove the styrofoam shipping block from the motor". I had to turn it up on its' side to see it. If this is left in place the motor will not turn very well it must swing freely to contact the drive wheel. Once I put it together I sharpened a wood chisel sharp enough to shave with. I used the adjustable side of the tool rest to bring the arm to square after locking the non-adjustible side in place. Once set I locked the the knob of the adjusting side. I used hardly any pressure at all to sharpen this chisel. I thought this machine worked very well. Brian.

Gives Tormek a run for its money

Like others here, I spent a lot of time comparing the Jet to the Tormek. I recently was able to get the Jet for roughly half the price of the Tormek, and have been using it for a few months now. All the comments and gripes about the Jet are mostly true, IMHO, but are pretty minor when put in the context of the price differential. Sure, a Mercedes is a great car, but a Honda Accord will get you to the same place for a lot less. If the Tormek were a couple hundred dollars cheaper, I might have gone for it, but the Jet will probably last me the rest of my life with money left over for wood.

Venerable But Excellent Grinder

I bought this from Amazon in April of 2007. In those (almost) 4 years, I have formed some strong opinions. Please allow me to share them with you.

I just came up from the shop where I sharpened nine bevel chisels, five lathe chisels of various types, one plane iron, and three 6" jointer knives. My session took about 3 hours, including cleaning and drying the machine. My usual session is only an hour or so, but the lathe tools were in bad shape. All the tools were ground with the 1000 and 6000 grit stones. The lathe tools required a little fixing with the 120 grit stone first.

This machine requires some practice to get great results from it. I suggest reading highland's white paper on its use. It is on their web site. IMHO, if you are good with tools, you can learn to be expert with this machine.

Here is my setup:

Basic Makita machine with 1000 grit factory stone (and a spare 1000 grit stone I picked up somewhere).
Makita 6000 grit stone
Highland Woodworking 120 grit "green" stone
Highland Woodworking chisel jig. This thing is utter simplicity and only $15 or so.

Here are my experiences sharpening various types of tools:

Plane Irons - Fabulous. Using the Highland jig in the Makita tooling is just the ticket. Flattening the back of the iron is easy too.
Bevel Chisels - Excellent, just like plane irons.
Jointer Knives - Excellent. The Makita tooling is unsurpassed for knives.
Planer Knives - Don't know. I sharpen two 6" knives at a time, which can't be too different than a 12" planer knife though.
Lathe Chisels - Anything with bevels is easy - just like bevel chisels. Gouges must be done freehand, but that works fine.

Thoughts on this machine, including some trouble others have reported.

Stone Quality - Terrific Japanese water stones. Flat & true. I own 4 stones, and I've never experienced the wobbling and vibration that one reviewer hsa reported. The only thing I can imagine is that the reviewer isn't properly engaging the drive tab on the bottom of the stone's platter with the mating feature in the drive disk. This would certainly cause crazy wobble and vibration.

Tooling Quality - Excellent. Cast iron platten. Adjustable height and angle. Clearly indended for jointer knives. When teamed up with Highland's jig, the tooling is superb for chisels, plane irons, etc.

Machine Quality - Just fine. No problems. Some have called it flimsy. I don't get it. Runs quietly, without vibration.

Corrosion - Not a speck on mine after almost 4 years. The steel parts are plated to resist rust. The cast iron is not. Maintenance is required, including emptying the water from the machine and allowing it to dry. I use WD40 on the cast iron and on the steel too after a grinding session. If you don't maintain the machine (that is, if you allow it to stay wet after use), of course it will rust eventually.

Mess - A little, yes. The machine has an excellent spray shield that can be raised to just below the plane of the work surface. Most cast-off water or slurry is caught by this shield. As I type this, I am wearing the sweatshirt I was wearing 30 minutes ago when using the grinder. My shirt is bone dry.

Conclusion - Excellent sharpening system for knives, chisels, plane irons, and the like. Accessories are easily available. Maintenence is required. Practice is required.

Nothing Better Available Today! - Have used this model for over 20 years

I just bought a new 9820 after using my old one for over 20 years.

I am a full time professional woodworker and have sharpened my planer/jointer knives hundreds of times on this machine. With a little finesse in the set up, it does a fantastic job.

For planer/jointer knives I have always found the 1000 grit stone that comes with the machine more than adequate to produce a very sharp, long lasting edge. I own the course green wheel also, but seldom use it since I rarely damage my knife edges. But when I do put a nick in an edge, the green wheel makes short work of reestablishing a clean facet to sharpen with the 1000 grit wheel.

The machine is a mess to use, since the horizontally spinning stone slings water and stone/steel slurry all around. But since I am a woodworker and a metal worker, I am used to getting filthy while working so it does not bother me. I just make sure that it does not stain anything that I care about keeping clean.

I also own the chisel sharpening jig, but seldom use it. If I nick a chisel edge, I lightly touch it to a small belt sander, always making sure not to overheat the edge, and then sharpen on my diamond stones with the General sharpening jig. This is just much faster and less of a mess than using the 9820.

For me the 9820 is all about planer/jointer knife sharpening. This is where the machine shines. To not have to rely on a sharpening service makes learning to use the 9820 worth it.

No machine is perfect, and the 9820 is no exception. The plastic housing is somewhat fragile, so be careful not to over tighten the height post nobs. The steel backing plate of the stone rusts. I had to reglue the stone to the backing plate with construction adhesive.

My old machine was still running strong despite the plastic housing being cracked and the 1000 grit stone being less than 1/16 " thick after 20 plus years of use. I made some repairs with plastic weld and gave it to a good friend who makes knives. FYI: Grizzly has a great price on the replacement stone.

I would have bought something different in a heartbeat, but there is nothing on the market that does what this machine does: flat grind, water cooled, reasonably priced, easy to use.

Hopefully I will still be around in another 20 years to buy another.

p.s. You can watch a series of "how to" videos on my YouTube channel that shows much more detail on how I use this machine.

Money Saver

If you run a jointer or planer, and have to send your blades out, this is the product for you. I was spending $25 per set and having to wait for my blades, putting me behind schedule constantly.

After a short learning curve, I had my 1st set sharpened and back on the planer, and what a difference! My blades were sharper than the ones were I got back and I'm confident I can do it over and over again. Only 8 sharpenings and I have my investment back.

Two downsides to mention: 1) the included instructions are less than user friendly. I ended up googling the sharpener and found some excellent tips from previous users that really made sharpening understandable and easy to perform. 2) you will get wet using this tool. Make sure you are in a suitable area, and prepared to have some water splashed your way. Not a drowning, but you will be damp.

I love this tool and will get lots of use out of it (One site even showed some homemade jigs for sharpening virtually anything and everything you may wish to sharpen: lathe gouges, chisels, knives, scissors, etc etc)

Milwaukee Rocks

Gotta love Milwaukee! I previously used the model with the on/off toggle switch, until an employee destroyed it through improper use. This time around I went with the paddle switch, and I'm glad I did. This thing is so powerful that the paddle switch makes it a much better and safer way to go. Now you can keep both hands on the tool and apply it to the workpiece when turning it on. And if it gets out of control, it switches off the second it leaves your hand. I plan on having this one for a long time.

Great Die Grinder

I like this die grinder, it has lots of power. I like the paddle switch on it. It gets the job done that I need to do and it doesn't want to jump out of your hands and risk an injury.
